The Petite Heure Minute has become closely associated with Jaquet Droz’s use of hard stone dials, where the material itself forms the focal point of the watch. The present example is fitted with a ruby heart dial displaying dense black veining and crystalline inclusions across a deep burgundy ground, creating strong variation in texture and tone throughout the surface.
The off-centred subdial at 12 o’clock, with slender applied indexes and feuille hands, leaves the stone largely uninterrupted and emphasises the asymmetry that defines the collection. The polished pink gold case complements the warm tones of the dial, while the sapphire display back reveals the automatic calibre 2653.P with signed openworked rotor. Combining restrained display design with highly expressive natural material, the present watch exemplifies the decorative direction of modern Jaquet Droz production.
