The F.P. Journe Élégante is one of the most intriguing creations developed by François-Paul Journe. Officially introduced in 2014 after eight years of development, the model challenged conventional perceptions of quartz movements by elevating it to the highest level of technical and conceptual sophistication.
Powered by the calibre 1210, the watch enters a standby mode after 35 minutes of inactivity, halting the hands to conserve energy. A motion detector positioned at 4 o’clock reactivates the movement when worn, automatically resetting the hands to the correct time. This ingenious system combines efficiency with practicality.
The present 40 mm example in Titalyt, a hardened titanium treated through electro-plasma oxidation for enhanced durability, is fitted with a translucent white dial featuring black Arabic numerals and a chemin de fer track. Entirely executed in Super-LumiNova, the dial emits a striking electric blue glow in the dark, creating a compelling fusion of tradition and innovation.
Combining technical ingenuity with a restrained and highly legible aesthetic, the Élégante stands apart within modern horology. The present example is offered in excellent condition and is accompanied by its original guarantee and presentation box.
