Description
Depicting a jade carved Chinese guardian lions, the hoop pendent shaped as a bow set with baguette-cut diamonds.
Guardian lions, or Chinese imperial lions, also called shi or Foo lions, are a common representation of the lion in imperial China. Traditionally placed in front of Chinese imperial palaces, imperial tombs, or the residences of officials or the wealthy classes since the Han dynasty (206 BC – AD 220), they were believed to possess protective powers.
