Description

rectangular, the lid probably later applied with an oval enamel plaque of a putto on a bed of roses and other flowers against a black enamel background, within a plain gold locket frame, the black enamel ground to all sides decorated with colourful taille d'épargne floral scrollwork and tassled drapery, the base centred with a shaped cartouche painted with a flower spray including roses, lilies and forget-me-nots, apparently unmarked, in a modern leather case


length 6.4 cm; 2 1/2 in.
