woodblock print, from the series The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido (Kisokaido rokujukyu tsugi no uchi), signed Hiroshige ga (Pictured by Hiroshige), sealed Ichiryusai, published by Iseya Rihei (Kinjudo), circa 1835-38
Horizontal oban: 24.1 x 36.6 cm., 9 ½ by 14⅜ in.
In the foreground, children are at play with two dogs while a man leads a packhorse toward a riverside dwelling. In the distance, travellers are crossing bridge silhouetted against the light of a full moon.
