Description

Shikishiban surimono: 20.5 x 18 cm, 8⅛ by 7⅛ in. (the first)

Shikishiban surimono: 21 x 18.5 cm, 8¼ by 7¼ in. (the second)

Daikokuten is portrayed smoking a kiseuru pipe, his lucky mallet jutting out of his pocket. He gazes at a tray of flowering adonis (fukujuso). Another impression of the same surimono is in the Art Institute of Chicago, ref. no. 1954.551, go to:
