Description

circular with waisted sides, the lid and base formed of slightly domed enamel panels, perhaps initially intended as a watch case, painted en plein with the judgement of Paris after Angelika Kauffman, within fine gold paillon borders, on a translucent dark blue enamel ground, within further crescent moon paillon frames and opaque white enamel rims, each lid set with a small thumbpiece, the sides painted with reserves of flower bouquets on marble table tops against pale pink skies, alternating with paillon vases on a dark blue ground, the interior of the base now fitted as a vanity case with four hinged compartments, the lids engraved with floral foliage, apparently unmarked
