Where acquired by Aso O. Tavitian.

The composition illustrating frolicking putti upholding a floral chain is repeated on a bronze relief cast by Thiébaut et Fils after 1900, only known from photographs and catalogued as "after Clodion." There is no documented sculpture by Clodion of this subject although the general theme is repeated throughout his career. Poulet and Scherf1 note the multitude of images ascribed to Clodion and refer to the physical types and draperies on the bronze relief as perhaps more "Clodionesque" than Clodion, himself.
