Lunar Orbital Science Flight Chart, Chart F, 1, 2, and 3 of 3, Apollo Mission 13. February 2, 1970. First Edition. 27 by 58 inches. Issued for the April 11, 1970 launch date. Scale 1:2,500,000 with nautical mile distance markers found at two locations on each chart. Three charts total. EACH SIGNED and INSCRIBED: “FRED HAISE, Apollo 13 LMP” along the lower white border. Chart 2 additionally SIGNED and INSCRIBED “Where Jim and I planned to Land!” by FRED HAISE with an arrow indicating the landing site.

TOGETHER WITH: two multi-colored geologic maps of the Apollo 13 landing site, SIGNED and INSCRIBED: “Where Jim and I planned to land, FRED HAISE, Apollo 13 LMP.”

The Apollo 13 mission became one of the most noteworthy and dramatic missions in the history of spaceflight after an explosion of an oxygen tank derailed the original objective of lunar landing and the mission's goal became the survival and safe return of the astronauts.

In this lot, LMP Fred Haise points out where the Lunar Module Aquarius was meant to land on the lunar surface to conduct scientific research. During the four days required to fly around the moon and travel back to Earth, the Lunar Module Aquarius was used as a 'lifeboat' and the crew had to conserve electrical power and oxygen all the while performing critical LM engine burns to ensure their flight path would indeed return them to Earth.
