Description
[APOLLO 13]
"Houston, We've Had A Problem..."
Black and white photograph, 20 by 16 inches, matted with Apollo 13 mission patch. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by JIM LOVELL: "'Houston, we've had a problem!' JAMES LOVELL Apollo 13 CDR."
HOUSTON, WE’VE HAD A PROBLEM…
A view of the severely damaged Apollo 13 Service Module (SM) as photographed from the Lunar Module/Command Module (CM). An entire panel on the SM was blown away by the explosion of an oxygen tank, severely impacting the spacecraft's life support and electrical systems. Mission Control worked with the crew to develop new procedures, including powering down the Command Module to conserve power for reentry, slingshotting around the Moon and returning to Earth, splashing down in the Pacific Ocean.
