designed after an original ancient vase in Villa Doria Pamphili in Rome, the body decorated with foliage, birds and berries in relief, the sides applied with masks, the cover with a lion and two hounds as the finial, painted in an earthy-coloured glaze to mimic the marble original, marked with the Imperial crowned cyphers for both Alexander III and Nicholas II, dated 1894 and 1895
