comprising: a metal mesh purse, early 19th century, the bands with stylised acorn pendants, apparently unmarked, 8.5 cm, 3 3/8 in. high;
a 9ct gold cigarette case, Birmingham, 1902, the front of the plain gold body engraved with initial D, dated 1902, pendant loop, 8.5 cm., 3 3/8 in. high;
A gold almanac, early 19th century, upright rectangular, both sides with basket weave engine-turning within floral borders, containing an almanac for 1821, apparently unmarked
By descent in the collection of the Earls of Home at The Hirsel, Berwickshire.
The gold cigarette case probably Charles Cospatrick Douglas-Home, 13th Earl of Home (1873–1951), styled Lord Dunglass between 1881 and 1918. He married Lady Lillian Lambton (1881–1966) on the 14th July 1902, so it is possible this case was a wedding gift.
