By descent in the collection of the Earls of Home at The Hirsel, Berwickshire.

The gold cigarette case probably Charles Cospatrick Douglas-Home, 13th Earl of Home (1873–1951), styled Lord Dunglass between 1881 and 1918. He married Lady Lillian Lambton (1881–1966) on the 14th July 1902, so it is possible this case was a wedding gift.
