The Patek Philippe Reference 466 is an exceptionally rare pre-World War II Art Deco timepiece that was introduced in 1936 and produced for only two years. According to the Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives, the movement of the present timepiece was manufactured in 1929 and the watch was cased and sold in 1937, falling within the confines of Reference 466’s production years.

As of the present, only two case batches have been identified and less than 100 watches of the Reference 466 were made in total, all cased in stainless steel. Of these hundred or so examples, about a third were fitted with a yellow or pink gold bezel and matching gold colored hour markers, and registered as Reference 466/1 like our present example.

The case of the Reference 466 was made by the case manufacturer Wenger identifiable by Geneva Key no. 1. Established in 1912, Wenger is one the most prestigious and renowned case makers who made some of the best pocket and wristwatch cases for several distinguished watch brands. Wenger employed several corrosion-resistant techniques to improve steel-made watch cases, which could possibly point to why they were the case maker of choice for the Patek Philippe 466. The Stern Frères dial features distinctly Art Deco design aesthetics, from the chemin de fer chapter ring, to the applied pink gold Arabic numeral quarter-hour indices.

The present Reference 466/1 is one of only three examples identified from the market so far. Presented in impeccable condition and service sealed, we are pleased to present this treasure from the Art Deco era that represents the timeless elegance of Patek Philippe timepieces.
