The Rolex Day-Date reference 180XX saw light in 1977, propelling the legendary wristwatch into the next generation.
The newly introduced 5-digit reference was an early adopter of the sapphire crystal, conferring the watch with a modern feel and look. The calibre 3055, fifth iteration of the Day-Date movement, introduced the quick-set function for the date setting. These innovations, coupled with the modern looks, have surely contributed to elevating the reference 180XX to an all-time favourite in Rolex collections.
This example is part of the 1807X collection. It can be easily identified thanks to its distinctive bark finish on the bezel and bracelet. While the vase majority of these pieces were made in yellow gold, this lot is crafted in white gold. It is fitted with an attractive diamond-set black dial, further elevating its desirability.
