Soon after A. Lange & Söhne’s revival in 1994, the brand would introduce the Cabaret line to its arsenal in 1997. The brand had already released similar rectangular watches prior to its hiatus in 1948, but without any notable success. This time was different, however, as Walter Lange teamed up with Günter Blümlein, previously Jaeger-LeCoultre’s CEO and responsible for the revival of the coveted Reverso. Adapting to the trend of Art Deco-inspired watches, the Cabaret became a refreshing alternative to A. Lange & Söhne’s traditional Teutonic designs.

The release of the Cabaret Tourbillon in 2008 quickly drew attention, as it featured a level of haute horology rarely ever seen before. The main spotlight lay on the new manual calibre L042.1 and its stop-seconds tourbillon mechanism. The reference 703.025 was the first wristwatch ever to feature this mechanism, meaning it could stop the tourbillon balance-wheel at any given moment, thus enhancing the accuracy of the watch immensely. Further offering a 5-day power reserve, running seconds and a big date display, the Cabaret Tourbillon is nothing short of a technical masterpiece.

The present watch was only ever produced in platinum or pink gold and with only approximately 250 pieces overall ever created, the Cabaret Tourbillon makes for an in-demand, hard-to-find example of A.
