From its inception, the Lange 1 was conceived as the foundation of a growing collection. Its first special edition appeared in 1998, the magnificent Lange 1A with a solid gold dial, followed in 1999 by the introduction of the Lange 1 Tourbillon. Over the years, this iconic design has evolved in numerous delightful iterations. The Lange 1 Time Zone, the third complication in the series, arrived after the Moonphase collection in 2005.In addition to displaying home time, the watch allows easy reading of a second time zone via the city ring representing 24 global zones.

In 2016, the reference 116.050 was released to commemorate the 810th anniversary of Dresden. Made in A. Lange & Söhne’s proprietary honey gold, the watch features blued accents on the city ring and dial, while the CET time zone is represented by Dresden — a nod to the city where the brand held its inaugural press conference on October 24, 1994. Small but thoughtful details include blue dots between the city names, replacing the previous red, and a second time-zone peripheral ring in a matching blue.
