In 2010, the Bouroullec brothers unveiled Galerie Kréo an unreleased suspension system: the Liane. As delicate stems bursting out of the ceiling, these long stems coated in leather unfold with grace, tracing full and lose forms into space, evoking the silent dance of plants. In many spaces, lighting globes are installed, projecting a soft light of which the height can be adjusted, transforming space into a luminous and poetic garden.
The Liane embodies two permanent features of the Bouroullec brothers’ universe: the fascination for the environment, an essential source of inspiration for their fluid and organic forms, and the work on indoor spaces’ structure. More than a simple light, the Liane is an installation which becomes a lively and adjustable sculpture. With the Liane, the Bouroullec brothers created one of the most innovative lights of our times, transforming a simple lighting into a true artistic installation.
