Cabernet Sauvignon 77%, Merlot 13%, Cabernet Franc 10%. In 2023, this has come into its own, deep velvet form. A blast of Cabernet Sauvignon on the nose, although there was less in the blend at this time than now. Aromatic and tannic structured on the palate, with the full black fruit to back it up. Precise and incisive. Noble, dramatic stuff and still with years to go. In magnum, even fresher, with huge cassis juiciness emphasising the 'grand vin' status. A wonderful spectrum of the best of France and beyond, featuring no less than 6 Duclot Collections, Petrus and Le Pin, Haut Brion 1989, Domaine de la Romanée Conti and stellar champagne such as Krug, Dom Pérignon’s P2 and P3, all underpinned by a selection of large formats – Imperials of Mouton 1996 and the Mascot and a Balthazar of Armand de Brignac’s Ace of Spades. The collection was bought from reputable wine merchants and auction houses in the UK.
