First introduced in 1956 with reference 6541, the Rolex Milgauss was one of the earliest wristwatches specifically engineered to maintain chronometric precision in the presence of strong magnetic fields. Designed for scientists and engineers working in high-electromagnetic environments, the Milgauss served a highly specialized market. It remained in Rolex’s catalogue for over three decades, undergoing a series of subtle design evolutions before being discontinued in 1988.

In 2007, Rolex revived the Milgauss line with the launch of reference 116400GV, recognizing renewed interest in technically oriented watches with a distinctive aesthetic. This modern interpretation brought a vibrant and slightly unconventional character to the collection. The dial features a striking interplay of white, orange, and green accents, along with the model’s signature lightning bolt-shaped seconds hand, a playful nod to its scientific roots. The reference 116400GV is also notable for its green-tinted sapphire crystal, known as glace verte (GV), which creates a subtle green halo around the dial, an exclusive and instantly recognizable feature within the Rolex lineup.

The present example is offered in beautiful condition, combining technical innovation with bold design. Playful yet refined, it represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of Rolex’s most distinctive modern references.
