Description

the rectangular body carved of rhodonite, the gold hinges and clasp decorated with diamond-set leaftips and rosettes centred by gold-mounted emerald-set deltas, struck with Fabergé in Cyrillic, workmaster’s initials, 56 standard


length 9 cm; 3 ½ in. 

The decoration on the inside hinges of the present box is similar to two other gold-mounted boxes by Mikhail Perkhin. The first of guilloché enamel, sold, Sotheby's London, 27 November 2012, lot 548. The second of nephrite, sold, Sotheby's New York, 21 April 2010, lot 148.
