SIX FIRST EDITION VOLUMES OF THIS NOTABLE FRENCH ILLUSTRATED ARMORIAL, often found bound together in this way, IN A CONTEMPORARY VELLUM BINDING.
6 volumes in one, folio (285 x 205 mm). Roman type. collation: (1) A-E6 F2; (2) A-C6 D4 E6; (3) A-C6 D-E4; (4) A-B6 C-D4; (5) A6 B4; (6) A-C6: 32 + 28 + 26 + 20 + 10 + 18 leaves. Numerous woodcut arms throughout all volumes, some with tinctures noted in an early hand, 6 titles within woodcut borders, woodcut initials. (Light spotting throughout, outer margin of first title-page wormed, title-page and A6 of sixth volume detached, final leaf extensively restored at margins, not affecting text.)
binding: Contemporary limp vellum (295 x 230 mm) with fore-edge flaps, early 6-line horizontal spine title in ink, traces of 2 pairs of chamois ties, in a cloth box. (Binding slightly soiled, pastedowns and endpapers wormed, lacking ties.)
