4to (283 x 230 mm). Engraved frontispiece and 4 aquatint plates, title-page printed in red and black; a few stray spots. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards, spine blind-tooled and gilt-titled; lightly rubbed, small loss to leather at one corner.
First edition; a popular work on sailing and navigation, with an emphasis on the English Channel.
