An eboshi-nari kabuto [court cap shaped helmet]
Edo period, 18th century
the black lacquered iron bowl applied with gold leaf of eboshi-nari [court cap shaped] form, small black lacquer turnbacks, four-tiered black lacquer itamono-jikoro [neck guard with solid plates] laced with spaced lacing in blue braid
The bowl to peak: 26 cm., 10⅛ in.
Accompanied by a certificate of registration Tokubetsu Kicho Shiryo [Especially Important Object], no. 2144 issued by the Nihon Katchu Bugu Kenkyu Hozon-kai [The Association for the Research and Preservation of Japanese Helmets and Armour], dated Reiwa 5 (2023).
