Olivier Renaud-Clément

Acquired from the above in 2003 by the present owner

For more than half a century, Swiss Conceptual artist Roman Signer has created ephemeral and dynamic works that reveal the fluidity of the natural elements and the release of energy. Capturing this tension, like the build up to a firework’s ignition, with photography and film, his explosions, transformations, and sculptures balance intense planning with chance results. His often humorous works use everyday objects to explore the surprising effects of chemical and physical reactions. In 1999, he represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale. Signer’s work was recently the subject of an exhibition at the Kunstmuseum, St. Gallen, featuring important sculptures donated by the Ursula Hauser Collection, from September 2023 – March 2024.
