tin-glazed earthenware (maiolica)

length: 7 ¼ in.; 18.5 cm.


in the shape of a nef with two spouts on quatrefoil foot; with side handles in the shape of oak branches with acorns; the interior painted with a naked female figure standing on a sphere floating on waves, a piece of cloth in her right hand and a trident in her left; Cupid flies above with bow and arrow; the exterior painted with two mermaids amidst waves.
