After the launch of the first Royal Oak, reference 5402, in 1972, Audemars Piguet decided to offer a slightly smaller diameter version.

This smart decision allowed more people to wear to wonderful creation of Gerald Genta as the 36mm diameter of the reference 4100 perfectly fit more wrists while preserving the appeal of the original design.

This example captures the spirit and style of that time with a case and bracelet in stainless steel and yellow gold and a grey dial.
