Rolex released the second generation of the automatic Daytona in 2000, fitting the watch with their own in-house caliber 4130. The model proved to be a great commercial success. In 2016, alongside the new stainless steel version reference 116500LN, Rolex released the new stainless steel and gold 116503, replacing the 116523. The two-tone Daytona remained essentially the same but was fitted with a slightly different bezel giving even more personnality to the piece.
The present Rolex Daytona reference 116523 is crafted from Rolesor, a patented Rolex combination of gold and stainless steel. This example is a crafty blend of yellow gold and stainless steel, fitted with the silvered dial, a favourite for this reference. An increasingly collectible wristwatch, it is offered with its original documentation and presentation case.
