During World War II, Breitling continued to be a leading innovator and manufacturer of high quality timepieces, including stop watches and chronographs, which were used throughout the war. Released in 1942, the Chronomat Reference 769 was intended to be an instrument more than anything else. Having a rotating logarithmic slide rule within the inner bezel ring, the tool allowed engineers, mathematicians, and scientists to calculate equations at the turn of the bezel.
The silvered dial features two subdials, one indicating the running seconds and the other 45 minute register measuring the minutes elapsed when the chronograph is activated.
This lot is offered with its original presentation box and outer packaging, as well as its booklet.
