The reference 3940 was introduced by Patek Philippe in 1985 and production officially ceased in March 2006. As the successor to references 3448 and 3450, it was manufactured in three series over a 20 year production period.
The present lot was regularly maintained by the previous owner. The last known service is recorded with a Patek Philippe service invoice dated September 24th, 2014, confirming a new dial was installed by the brand.
