Description

designed by Albert-Ernest Carrier Belleuse (1824-1887), the central body of drum shape, with a tall collared neck carved in high relief with female term figures issuing from scrollwork supports, the body molded in low relief with a strapwork band reserving four laurel-edged cartouches alternating with leaf foliate scrolling panels featuring either a monkey, a bird, or squirrel, printed S.85 lozenge mark in blue, incised CM 83 LV

Sheets of decorative schemes for two vases Houdon, one by Emile Bernard Rejoux, dated 1889, and another by Eugène Charles Cabau, dated 1876, are retained in the Sèvres archives.
