Roman and italic type, 66 lines plus headline. collation: (1) π² ā⁶ ē⁶ ī⁶ ō⁶ ū⁶ A-2D6 2E4 2F-2Q⁶; (2) 2A-3N6 3O4; (3) 2a-4c6 4d4 ; (4) ā2 2A-3S6 A-I6 K8 : 484 + 608 leaves (2Q6 blank in first part, ā2 misbound after 2A6 in fourth part). Woodcut printer's device on 4 title-pages, engraved portrait of the author and of a pilgrim, woodcut initials, 2 title-pages in red and black. (Occasional ink stains in both volumes.)


binding: Contemporary Parisian brown calf (354 x 238 mm), single gilt fillet around sides, central ornament of a gilt wreath, spine with 6 full bands, old spine labels retained, stubs from two pairs of ties, late sixteenth-century fore-edge decoration, title lettered across fore-edge with armorials and leafy decoration. (Rebacked, binding rubbed and worn, wormholing on flyleaves of second volume.)
