This dish was created after a well known Iznik dish that was acquired by Sir Richard Wallace in August 1871, now in the Wallace Collection, London (inv. no.C199). It previously belonged to Baron de Schwiter and was illustrated in Edouard Lièvre's Les Collections Célèbres D'œuvres D'Art: Dessinées et Gravées D'Après les Originaux (1866, plate 3). This impressive Iznik dish also inspired a copy by Cantagalli, now in the British Museum (inv. no.2018,8005.1).
