four tiles of square form, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, turquoise, yellow, green and red, outlined in black with the imperial Ottoman coat of arms bearing the tughra of Sultan Abdulhamid II (r.1876-1909), bordered by a band of scrolling saz and rosette buds, with wooden carved frame bearing the tughra and an inscription

The Ottoman coat of arms that figures on this tile panel was created in the late nineteenth century following a request from Hampton Court for an imperial Ottoman heraldic symbol to be included in their collection. The final design was adopted by Abdulhamid II on April 17, 1882 (Deringil 2014, pp.39-41).
A Kutahya dish, similarly decorated with the imperial Ottoman coat of arms and the tughra of Sultan Abdulhamid II is in the Pera Museum, Istanbul (published in Kürkman 2005, p.226, pl.292).
