The mandala depicts a turquoise flaming jewel (ratna) on one side of the oval finial and a ritual sword (khadja) on the other side. The finial is decorated with cloisons and gem-set rosettes and supported on a beaded and gem-set tiered pedestal interspersed with separately cast seated deities. The base is sealed with a copper plate depicting a repoussé visvavajra: cf. an eighteenth or nineteenth century Nepalese gem-set mandala with a stupa at centre in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (acc. no. 15.95.98), https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/39463
