probably designed by George Woodall and carved by the Woodall Team, of slender amphora form, overlaid in opaque white and carved through to the turquoise blue glass underneath with Renaissance grotesque ornament, the verso with a small scroll arbor supporting two rabbits, the flared neck with leafy swags tied with ribbons, the lower section with a dart and stiff-leaf band, etched THOS WEBB/ & SONS in shaped banner mark

This vase can be identified as W3202, as numbered in the factory records, appearing in the Thomas Webb & Son's price book on a page dated May 1899 , inscribed 'W3202 12 in 2 Hd Vase White on Blue. Cost 95/. Sale £15', reproduced by Ray and Lee Grover, English Cameo Glass, New York 1980, p. 196. The authors also reproduce a line drawing from the sketch book for the vase, p. 338. The 'W' prefix denotes works executed by the Woodall team and designed by George or Thomas Woodall. The original pencil drawing is reproduced in Richard Dennis, A Facsimile of Thomas Webb & Sons' Pattern Books Principally for Cameo Glass by the Woodall Team, 2000, p. 22.
