cartouche-shaped and carved from milky caramel agate, the lid framed in a border richly-set with old-cut diamonds of different shapes, partially foiled in pale yellow and champagne colors, the openwork gold scrolls set with diamond-flowers, the gold sides of the cover below the diamonds chased with floral foliage and scrolls in 1760s taste, slightly tapering sides, the footrim matching the decoration of the lid mount on a smaller scale, apparently unmarked, in fitted leather case stamped for Bulgari, Rome
