The crest is that of Talbot under an earl's coronet, probably for George Talbot, 14th Earl of Shrewsbury, 1719-1787, m. 1743 Elizabeth, 1st daughter of John Dormer, 7th Baron Dormer of Wyng.

Nicolas Sprimont was born in Liège and emigrated to London. He entered his mark in 1742, producing silver stylistically similar to other members of the Lamerie group, and with a close working relationship with Paul Crespin. In 1744 he set up the Chelsea porcelain factory, and by 1747 was completely absorbed in that enterprise and gave up silversmithing.
