Ruby and diamond brooch and a diamond clasp, mid-19th century


Comprising: a brooch representing the initials L and B set with cushion-shaped and rose diamonds and cushion-shaped rubies respectively, pin deficient; and a clasp set with rose diamonds.

Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma, Princess Consort of Bulgaria (1870-1899)

The initials L and B refer to Louise of Artois, Duchess of Parma (1819-1864). She was a granddaughter of the last legitimist Bourbon King of France, Charles X and married Charles III of Bourbon-Parma, Duke of Parma (1823-1854). The brooch was inherited by her granddaughter Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma, Princess Consort of Bulgaria (1870-1899), it was part of her estate when she passed away.
