A French silver-hilted small-sword, circa 1780 

with earlier blade stamped with a brief inscription within a short fuller on each face at the forte (illegible), silver hilt (marks indistinct) cast, pierced and chased in low relief with scrolls, foliage, garlands and classical motifs, comprising oval shell-guard, a pair of quillons with flattened globular terminals, pas d’âne, knuckle-guard, ovoid pommel and integral grip decorated en suite, in associated scabbard
