A Continental small-sword for a child, circa 1700


with German blade formed in two stages, the lower portion of flattened-hexagonal section, blued, and inlaid with a running pattern of scrolling foliage and flowers in brass, white metal hilt cast and chased in low relief (quillon and knuckle-guard removed), including small dish-guard cast with trophies-of-arms in low relief, pommel and grip decorated en suite, with associated scabbard locket
