1937 - 1941

Sotheby’s is proud to present this spectacular lot —an original Levi's 506XX Denim Jacket directly from Hiroshi Fujiwara's personal collection.

The 506XX jacket, also known as the Type I jacket, stands as the initial rendition of the iconic Levi's denim blouson. The jacket's inception dates back to 1905, with this particular jacket a remarkable piece produced between 1937 and 1941. It possesses distinct characteristics that serve as historical markers, allowing us to attribute its era.

Despite its age, this jacket remains in immaculate condition. The dark denim showcases the signature yellow threading, and the iconic LEVIS tag in red on the left breast pocket, featuring a large "E." Additionally, the back strap boasts a silver cinch with pin teeth.

This outstanding lot not only captures the essence of the enduring fascination with vintage denim, but also exemplifies the exceptional quality of the Hiroshi Fujiwara collection itself.
