A.M. ('Ton') van den Broek (1932-1995), Haarlem (bears his mark, verso, not in Lugt)

The theme of a coach attacked by brigands in a winter landscape was one that Langendijk represented on a number of occasions. A similar composition, on a smaller scale and dating from the previous year, is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam1, while others, dated 1804 and 1805, have been on the auction market over the years.2
