modelled with a biscuit cameo portrait, perhaps of Princess Louise of Prussia (1808-1870) within a biscuit garland of roses, above a gilt eagle, sceptre mark in underglaze-blue, printed eagle and KPM mark in iron-red

Princess Pauline Olga Helene Emma zu Wied, née Württemberg (1877-1965), daughter of King William II of Württemberg and Princess Marie of Waldeck and Pyrmont, and spouse of Prince William Frederick zu Wied;

and thence by descent to Duchess Marie von Württemberg

A vase of this form, painted with a sepia-portrait of Prince Wilhelm of Prussia (1783–1851) was in the Twinight Collection, sold Lempertz Cologne, November 7, 2018, lot 7. According to the catalogue entry, the vase was a present to the Prince from his personal physician Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland (1762-1836). A second vase of the form, also painted with a sepia portrait, probably of Prince Albrecht, the last child of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, was sold in the same rooms, April 6, 2019, lot 182.
