Extraweg is the artistic name of the german Emmy Award winning highly sought-after Artist Oliver Latta.
He graduated in Design at the Bauhaus University in Dessau. Based in Berlin he created Extraweg, a platform for his artistic expression that quickly gained popularity on Instagram and went viral. His work has been shared millions of times on social media, earning him collaborations with some of the world's top brands, bands, and clients.
Extraweg continues to originate groundbreaking NFT and Art projects of different scales for top recording artists such as Mick Jagger ( Rolling Stones ), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), the first-ever NFT with Ray-Ban. He has also produced music videos for example for british band Bring Me the Horizon, global fashion brand launches for Valentino Garavani, magazine promos for Vogue and other publications, and consumer product advertising promotions.
In 2020, famous American director Ben Stiller discovered Oliver's work and commissioned him to produce a unique title sequence for his show Severance on Apple TV+. Oliver's squirming animation style, which mirrors the main protagonist's inner struggle, won Apple and the show Severance an Outstanding Main Title Design Emmy in the fall of 2022.
Extraweg's videos are provocative, nonconformist, risky, original, and filled with personality and attitude. Each animation, though graphic and revealing of human nature, is presented in a non-threatening tone, often using monochrome materials, bright colours, and slowed movements to focus on the content. Every project is a kind of social observation, playing with everyday situations and presenting them in an ambiguous and unique way. People matter to Extraweg, and each video has a story behind it, a motivation to shake the viewers, and provoke emotion.
While the studio receives many requests, they are very selective before proceeding with any projects. The acceptance of a job is not dependent on size but rather on whether it presents a challenge for them to solve and if there is an affinity with the project and the people behind the commission
