Proofs contained some potentially damaging passages concerning the Thunderball plagiarism case, which would be removed before general publication. This copy includes an AUTOGRAPH LETTER tipped-in, noting that this is the author's own copy,

Author, biographer, and journalist John Pearson (1930-2021) was Fleming's right-hand man at the Sunday Times, chiefly concerned with the weekly 'Atticus' column. An 'essential biography' of Fleming (Gilbert, p. 592), Pearson also wrote James Bond: The Authorised Biography (1973), and Ian Fleming: The Notes (2021).
