Introduced in 1999, the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph, affectionately dubbed the “Dufourgraph” by discerning collectors, holds a special place in the realm of horology. Renowned master watchmaker Philippe Dufour himself has hailed it as the best serially produced chronograph in the world, and the present example is in the same configuration that has been seen on his wrist.
Encased in a 39mm diameter, the Datograph features a flyback function, allowing the chronograph to be instantaneous reset to zero and restarted mid-measurement with a simple press of the chronograph button. Additionally, the Datograph presented a first in modern watchmaking as the minutes counter hand “jumps” exactly by an increment when the chronograph seconds hand reaches 60. Fitted with an in elegant pink gold case and a black dial, the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph stands as a transformative milestone in horological history, showcasing the impressive prowess of the German brand.
