A George II Walnut Table Clock, John Abbott London, Circa 1740
7¼-inch dial with unusual scroll spandrels, signed Abbott, London, matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, ringed winding holes and engraved date aperture, strike/silent dial in the arch, the fusee movement with five knopped and ringed pillars, verge escapement, striking on a bell, the backplate engraved with a bird and foliate scrolls, later pierced apron, the case with inverted bell top and brass carrying handle, moulded base with block feet
