The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Reference 15202 was announced in March 2000 at the SIHH. The model was the modern interpretation of the original 5402 and followed the 14802 and 15002. The watch was available in stainless steel as well as in yellow gold. They were followed by the pink gold version in 2006. The 15202 marked the introduction of white silvered dials to the Jumbo version of the Royal Oak. The watch was powered by the Cal. 2121, the signature movement always used in the Jumbo models since 1972.
In 2012, for the 40th anniversary of the Royal Oak, the 15202 saw an evolution in the layout of its dial. Indeed, this included the AP logo moved from 12 to 6 o’clock, the hour indexes became longer, the petite tapisserie and the Bleu nuit Nuage 50 shade were re-issued, all these changes to resemble the original 5402. Furthermore, the background of the date wheel went from white to black and the white frame around it disappeared for a better integration of the indication.
This new design marked a clear separation between the first and second series of the 15202 which was discontinued and replaced in 2022 by the reference 16202.
The present lot is part of the first series and is beautifully adorned by its white dial from the front and the finally pierced rotor on the back. Furthermore, it comes with its original accessories.
