Introduced in 1968 the Ellipse drew immediate attention for its bold shape and glamorous proportions. The reference 3589 was introduced two years later in 1970 and was produced until 1979. It features an elegant blue dial and contrasting carved gilt Roman and baton indexes. It is furthermore powered by the LeCoultre based movement cal. 28-255, one of the finest and flattest automatic movement at its time and later used in the reference 3700 Nautilus.
