Small minute repeating pocket watches are relatively rare, by any maker, and almost exclusively produced in gold cases. Considered by some to be miniature because of the high cost and difficulty to produce them compared to larger sized pocket watches. The present lot, made by Patek Philippe is retailed by Bailey, Banks and Biddle, a very prestigious and well-known jewelry retailer established in Philadelphia in 1832.
